SO, WHAT IS THIS ROCK EUCHARIST THING, ANYWAY?
The Rock Eucharist, featuring a live band (theREIGN, naturally) and equally live vicar (Revd Rachel Ganney from St John's Church, Bransholme, Hull), is the Eucharist for those who like their praise songs to feature loud guitars, driving bass and no drum solos.

It is Holy Communion for the 21st Century ... the Battlestar Galactica of Worship, if you like ... keeping intact the Eucharist's beautiful liturgy but placing it very firmly in a lively and very modern context.

The music (covers, worship songs and original material) is in the style of such artists as Queen, Nirvana and Fleetwood Mac. The liturgy (spoken and shouted) is in the style of the Church of England.

WHAT ARE PEOPLE SAYING ABOUT THE ROCK EUCHARIST?

"The Rock Eucharist is Holy Communion re-imagined. Lively and engaging, combining prayer, heart-felt worship and liturgy this is one not to miss!"
Jason Taylor (Minister, Victoria Dock Church)

"It really drew me in ... I didn't want it to end."
Geoff Howlett (BBC Radio Humberside/Editor, Never for Nothing)

"I'd like to say how good I thought the rock eucharist was. It gave worship a new dimension and emphasis for me ... powerful stuff!"
Sukhwant Kaur

PREVIOUS EVENTS

GREENBELT 07
The World Premiere and, despite some technical hassles (microphone cables, mixer channels, projector leads, screen fixings, you know the sort of thing) a couple of hundred turned out (at midnight:fifteen no less) to join us in our first ever RE. It went well - in fact, better than we expected (Rachel had to bless all the "reserve" bread and wine) and we all left uplifted and praising God. Dave and John were still in good spirits at 3am when they couldn't find their tents ... but that's another story.

VICTORIA DOCK CHURCH, HULL
A fantastic evening was had by all as a large and enthusiastic congregation gathered in Victoria Dock Village Hall for the local premiere of the event. The RE itself was slightly tweaked to include additional music, rectifying some small deficiencies in the programme identified at Greenbelt. The tweaks worked really well.
